There are many auto racing events which each attract a different crowd and each have different rules and credentials. The World Touring Car Championship ran by the FIA is quite easily of the most watched car racing events the busy motor sports calendar. First formed in 1987, the WTCC series is held all around the world including locations like China, Morocco, Spain and Japan. Other popular auto racing championships include the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, the World Rally Championship and the Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo . The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series are also classed as two of the world's best car racing championships.

F1 racing is regularly seen as one of the most enthralling motor sports around to watch. The sport's origins come from post World War Two but it was only in 1950 that rules were set down, with the first F1 races happening in 1950. While Grand Prix races have been staged across the globe, there is always one certainty - the car firms who invest money into their teams annually. The landmark motor car companies are Ferrari, Renault and Williams while in recent years Jordan and Lotus have also taken part in championships. The real stars have always been the drivers, from the unlucky Stirling Moss through to the genius of Ayrton Senna.

Also known as auto racing, car racing is classed as the racing of cars for competition and is easily one of the most popular televised sports in the world. It's thought car racing commenced not long after the world's first gasoline powered automobile was constructed and it's thought the very first car race in the world was created in 1894 by French magazine Le Petit Journal. The first race track ran from Paris to Rouen and attracted major manufacturers like De Dion, Panhard and Peugeot and many other amateur car owners. Although motor racing continued to grow in popularity over the years, it wasn't until the mid 1930s that the first racing automobiles were created, with extreme performance vehicles from car manufacturers like Auto Union and Bugatti transforming the feel and style of car racing forever.
