Driving shows on TV - reviews of Top Gear
A definitive introduction to the popular TV car show Top Gear.
A description of the TV show Top Gear.
Top Gear originally started in 1977 as a basic magazine programme featuring a diverse mix of presenters, a few of which went on to front the Channel 5 rival show 'Fifth Gear'. In 2002 the popular car show was revamped to be studio based whilst placing more of an emphasis on the program's eccentric humour and the relationship between presenters James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond. One of the most popular aspects of the show is the unconventional tests they carry out on the cars, like the famous Top Gear review of the Toyota Hilux. The tests included crashing into a tree in the car and hitting it with a wrecking ball. Top Gear is essential viewing for any real motoring fan.
